**New tax year, new charitable-contribution-deduction introduction!**

I’m really enjoying the rhyming of the title above, but hope people aren’t assuming the worst here! We’ve been recipients of incredible generosity throughout our network, and I’ve become focused on shifting some of that to local & relevant charities – especially those focused on cancer-based research & support.

As per usual I’m the first to admit that this shit I’m dealing with sucks, but also bold enough to express … proudness? excitedness? the important-ness? of supporting these foundations because without them, advancement in the space of finding cures is limited.

That said, I’ve got what I consider to be a couple of gems below. They’re also on the Help me help others section, but wanted to introduce as many people as possible to the details on these groups.

500 mile bike-ride to end cancer!

No, this is not something I’ll be doing. That would most definitely be impossible. BUT, my brother-in-law, Trevor Doherty is apparently capable! Trevor is a PA at NewYork-Presbyterian. Given his career, he’s always been incredibly focused on the medical field and what he can do to help folks dealing with unwanted shit. His rockstar status started with the Covid-19 pandemic, and has continued as he provides support at NYP, and to me as “Dr. Trevvy.” He has been one of the biggest sanity-assisting, question-answering, medical-info-translating rocks in my uphill battle. Below is the link to his LITERALLY 500 MILE bike ride page – take a peek and contribute if you’re feeling up for it! (PS, I personally think he’s nuts…but you do you Trevvy!)

Trevor’s 500 mile bike ride!

5k walk to cure cancer!!

It may not compare, but exercising, bike-riding, and 500 mile anythings have never been for me. SO, I’ve decided to participate in a NJ walk with the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS). It’s in May (when we wear gray!!), and it felt like the most appropriate organization for me to collaborate with if you will. It’s also much more manageable than a 3-digit mile activity, and close to some friends we’ll be excited to see (college peeps – that means you! If you can, because we miss you.)

BCCTWB Buddies!

That’s all. Hope everyone’s enjoying the start of March, gearing up for St. Patty’s Day and wrapping up all the tax nonsense that makes us all crazy, accounting professional or not. (See what I did here? Were you wondering how I would tie this back to my tax based titling?? 😉)

#BCCTWB

P.S. (please tell me if I’m utilizing postscripts too frequently…) – Scarbo is turning TWO on Thursday. She’s already begun her “terribles,” but we’re incredibly excited, grateful and beyond happy to celebrate our littlest, and honestly wildest, nugget.
